  • Online  Audio only - video, projection mapping and the sound editor are in the extension. Runs from a link or a USB drive with no installation and no internet. Folder picking and Save As use Chromium file APIs; in other browsers they fall back to standard file dialogs.

What is Theatre Cue Player?

Show-control software for school theatre that runs in Chrome — including on a locked-down Chromebook, where nothing else does. Build a cue list, press GO, and your cues fire in order.

It comes in two versions: a no-install single-file audio playback, and a Chrome extension with significantly fuller features.

BROWSER VERSION — audio only, nothing to install. Open a link, or run it from a thumb drive. No installation, no admin rights, no internet connection. Audio cues with fades, auto-follow, auto-continue, loops and instant-fire hotkeys. A waveform editor for non-destructive trimming and fades. Printable PDF cue sheets, CSV export, and whole-show zip packages that carry the audio with them. High-contrast and oversized controls for when the operator screen is itself being projected. This is the one for machines where you cannot install anything at all.

CHROME EXTENSION — everything above, plus video. Installs from the Chrome Web Store. Adds video cues with surfaces, projection mapping and clean second-screen output to a projector; text cues including crawls and rolls; a full sound editor with EQ, reverb, delay, noise reduction and pitch/tempo change, which sends the edited audio straight back into the cue; optional Google Drive storage; and cue-sheet export to Google Sheets. Still works offline for shows saved locally.

Built to teach. Cue types, geometry and vocabulary deliberately mirror theatre industry-standard software, so a student who builds a class project or show with this can sit down at professional software and recognize what they are looking at.

Free for the 2026–27 school year. After that, only second-screen projection output carries a fee - watermarked video output and, in both versions, audio-only shows stay free.

"Made for education. Powerful enough to run the show."
