TagRex is a free, open-source tag editor for audio libraries on Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon) and Linux. Files open in a spreadsheet-style table where tags and file names are edited in place or in bulk. Every change — a rename from a mask, tags parsed out of file names, a text transform, an import from an online source, a cover embed — is first shown as a "current to new" preview in the table, and nothing is written until you press Apply. Applied batches go into an undo journal that survives an application restart, so a whole batch can be rolled back later.
Highlights: ID3v2.3/2.4, ID3v1, APE, Vorbis comments and MP4 tags (MP3, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, Opus, M4A, AIFF, WAV, Musepack, Monkey's Audio, WavPack and more); masks that work in both directions, with a function language; tag lookup from Discogs, MusicBrainz, Beatport, Bandcamp and Soundeo; cover art; duplicate finder; exports; a preview player. The interface is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Ukrainian and Russian.
Still before 1.0: no Intel Mac build and no audio fingerprinting.
