What is summoner?

summoner is a digital photo developer with no catalogue and no import step. Drop camera raw files (CR2/CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, ORF, RW2, RAF and more via libraw) or JPEG/PNG/TIFF into the queue, press Start, and developed photos land in a "developed" folder next to the originals.

Auto develop analyses every photo separately: white balance estimated only from plausibly-grey pixels (sunsets stay sunsets), exposure with the bright end protected, and local tone mapping so backlit subjects rise without blowing out the sky. Night scenes and silhouettes are detected and keep their mood. Six profiles (Standard, Portrait, Landscape, Vivid, Night, Black & white) and twelve manual sliders adjust on top, with a live before/after preview.

Outputs JPEG (EXIF preserved), PNG or 16-bit TIFF, with optional resizing. Originals are never modified. Free and open source (MIT), with prebuilt standalone binaries for Windows, Linux and macOS - no runtime to install - and a CLI for scripting.
