Studify gives you English speaking lessons with Ellie, an AI teacher. She's on screen with a whiteboard beside her, you talk to her out loud, and we worked hard to make it feel like a lesson with a tutor on a video call rather than a chat with a bot. Your camera isn't needed at all, and there's nothing to book, so you can start whenever it suits you, even late at night.
The lessons follow a programme we wrote around the CEFR levels, so each level covers what a speaker there can actually do. At B1 that means holding a conversation, giving advice and telling a story that hangs together. At B2 it's arguing a case and negotiating. Every teaching lesson was written by hand to its own plan, and the programme is the part of Studify we put the most love into.
A lesson goes the way a teacher would run it. You pick up where you left off, try one new thing on the board, then get a speaking task where most of the talking is yours. If you wander off into your own story, Ellie goes along with it for a bit and steers you back. Pronunciation work aims at one thing per pair of lessons, such as word stress, intonation or how words run together, and every attempt gets a score and names the sound that let you down.
Ellie won't stop you every time you slip. She fixes a mistake on the spot only when it makes you hard to follow and writes the rest down. The ones you repeat come back later, built into exercises on new material. Say "he explained me the plan" a couple of times, and it starts turning up in your next exercises while you're busy with something else.
After every lesson you get a written report. It shows your own sentences next to the corrected version with a line on why, what went well, the words you picked up and the one thing to work on next. It also tracks which mistakes have stopped coming back and which are still around. A mistake that keeps repeating earns you homework.
Every course also has checkpoint conversations that add nothing new and let you hear what stuck. Your first lesson is a conversation that checks your level and starts you at the right point in the programme. If you're at A2, that's the first course. Everything runs in the browser. Current plans are on the Studify website.
