What is Strata Outdoors?
Strata is a backcountry trip-planning app for hikers, backpackers, peak-baggers, and ski-tourers. Instead of checking a separate site for each hazard, you pick a route and Strata combines the relevant safety signals into one pre-trip read: avalanche danger (by aspect and elevation), active wildfire perimeters, air quality, river/streamflow, weather, sun and daylight timing, permit requirements, and cell-coverage dead zones along the route.
Pro adds downloadable offline maps, slope-angle and aspect terrain overlays, public-lands boundaries (BLM/USFS/NPS/state), an AI-written plain-English safety brief for each route, an 8-day "best day to go" ranking, a snap-to-trail custom route builder, and condition alerts that notify you when a saved route's forecast changes.
Coverage is nationwide across the US Lower 48, with ~470 curated routes and trail data spanning the Sierra and Cascades through the Rockies and the Appalachians. Slope/aspect overlays cover the mountainous West and East; public-lands data is national, including Alaska. No ads, no tracking, no data sales.
