StoneNotes came about because of our frustration with existing personal wiki programs and knowledge management systems. They're bloated and hard to use. They never quite do what you want.

StoneNotes-2020 (now it is called this way) tried to install ancient Visual C++ 2015 pack into my Windows10. Portable version is missing. So, not worth of trying. I have cancelled installation, which was nerve-racking, as Visual C++ install packs are always time-consuming for Windows10.
Hi, developer of StoneNotes here.
We actually use Visual Studio 2019 (the latest version available at the time that StoneNotes 2020 was release). One of the third party packages we used requires Visual Studio 2015 redistributable package to be installed so that is why the installer checks for this dependency and offers to install it if you do not already have it.
However please note:
We use this third party package to install needed Microsoft dependencies and it is widely accepted as a good package for dependency management in Inno Setup (which is the installer system we are using) https://github.com/DomGries/InnoDependencyInstaller
The VS 2015 dependency is still supported by Microsoft and receives security updates, it is not the same version that was released in 2015. The years simply designate different binary compatibility levels as the compiler's internals change from year to year. This does not mean in any way that insecure code is being used.
Also would like to note that we have actually withdrawn this version from distribution and are working on a rewrite that will solve all of these issues (it does not have as many third party requirements that need to be installed separately) and supports mobile devices natively.
the destination site doesn't say anything about this software pacakge. I reckon it's defunct.
It looks like you're right. I've changed the application website to a CNET download link, just in case anybody still wants to download it.
It's pretty good - and I'd recommend it - but it's unstable, and the latest version is from before 2010, so it may be a dead project. Otherwise - it seems pretty decent.
