Stickene keeps your notes off the desktop entirely. They sit just past the
right edge of the screen, behind a narrow translucent strip of colored
squares, one square per note. Move the cursor to the edge, hold it for a
moment, and the stack slides out. Click a note and it opens in a small
borderless window. Move the cursor away and everything hides again. There is
no taskbar button and no window to minimize: the app lives in the tray
Notes are Markdown: checklists, headings, links, code. You can attach images
and files, set one-off or repeating reminders, organize notes by color and
tag, and filter the stack. Reminders stay quiet while you play a fullscreen
game and arrive after
Import reads that folder back in, so the copy is a round trip and not a
dead end: the newer edit wins, and importing a file for a note you deleted
brings the note back
Everything is local. No account, no cloud, no telemetry. Notes live in a
SQLite file on your own machine, and auto-export writes every one of them
out as a plain .md file into a folder you choose, so they stay readable
without the app: in Obsidian, in Notepad, anywhere
Sync between your own computers is optional, end-to-end encrypted, and still
needs no account. Two devices pair with a short code and five emoji, and the
server only ever stores encrypted data it cannot read
Pressing the sync button is free for everyone. Continuous background sync is
a thank-you for the people who support the project
