Compared to W3Counter and Google Analytics, it does a very poor job of filtering automated traffic, which currently accounts for more than half. Therefore, current data (starting from May 2025) is useless.

I've been using statcounter for many years and in it's free version it's ok, as far as it goes. However, as seems to be a trend for many companies, it has cut back on features one receives in the free version. Fair enough. It's a commercial company, that's the deal, but I'm on the look out for a more featured open source version. That's my deal :)

Thanks to this website I know how much market share different browsers, operating systems, social medias etc. have
I have been using StatCounter on my website for the past few weeks and I love it. The data is easy to read and understand. I love how StatCounter respects by visitor's privacy by anonymizing all data and never sharing it with third parties. The free tier includes all the features most people would need for a small website. I cannot recommend StatCounter enough especially if you are using Google Analytics.
