What is Spybot Anti-Beacon?
Spybot Anti-Beacon is a telemetry blocker for Windows, created for users concerned about the privacy of their computer usage. Spybot Anti-Beacon is a standalone tool which was designed to block and stop the various tracking (telemetry) issues present in Windows 10 and 11. It has since been modified to block similar tracking functionality in Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems.
Anti-Beacon is small, simple to use, and is provided free of charge. It was created to address the privacy concerns of Windows users who do not wish to have information about their PC usage sent to Microsoft. Simply clicking “Immunize” on the main screen of Anti-Beacon will immediately disable any known tracking features included by Microsoft in the operating system.
Comments and Reviews
Found it to be effective in blocking phone home processes from windows, office suite, and a number of antivirus programs. Customizable and has reasonably detailed explanations and recommendations for each option. Never has messed up my system, but it does warn that some programs won't function correctly if telemetry is blocked.
Been around for a long time and was presented as an anti-tracker along with spybot's anti-spyware program. Was the only one of its kind for a while, but there are some new variations out that are possibly an improvement as this hasn't changed very much and doesn't always seem stable.
Borked my win10 installation.
Needed a fresh reinstall.
Looked at other options too, but like SAB none seem to be updated that frequently, which is surprising given the ever changing privacy policies.
