Spelly is a spelling app for kids ages 6 to 12 that turns their weekly school spelling words into games. It runs in any web browser and as an app for iPhone, iPad and Android,
with one account across all of them.
Take a photo of a printed or handwritten spelling list and Spelly turns it into a practice list in seconds. You can also type the words or make a list on any topic with AI.
Every word is read aloud in a natural voice, so a child who cannot read the list yet can still practice it.
Five games, all open from the first day: Matching, Multiple Choice, Fill the Gap, Build It and Type It. Typing is checked letter by letter, and autocorrect and suggestions are
blocked, so the keyboard cannot spell the word for the child. After each answer the child sees the word's meaning and an example sentence.
There are also 94 ready-made lists across 24 worlds, played as a road: finish a list to open the next, collect coins and a daily streak, and hatch creatures along the way. For
a school test, set the test day and Spelly spreads the practice over the days before it and sends reminders.
Teachers can share one list with a whole class through a link or QR code. Students practice with no accounts and no emails.
Spelly works in 14 languages, including right-to-left Hebrew and Arabic, and in US or UK English. It has a dyslexia-friendly font and a way to play without sound.
Free to start with no ads. All games and ready-made lists are free. Free play runs on hearts that come back over time. A single one-time payment of $29 removes the limit.
