Speech Recognition Cloud information
What is Speech Recognition Cloud?
Speech Recognition Cloud is a cloud-based speech recognition application for Windows that converts spoken words into text in real time. It allows users to dictate directly into most Windows applications — including word processors, email clients, web browsers and online forms — by typing text at the active cursor rather than through a separate dictation window.
Dictation can be controlled using configurable hotkeys, hold-to-talk or toggle modes, and optional mouse button activation. The platform supports automatic punctuation based on natural speech pauses, as well as spoken formatting commands such as new lines, paragraphs, bullet points and numbered lists. Text appears fully structured, reducing the need for manual editing.
Speech Recognition Cloud includes personalisation tools such as custom vocabulary and text replacement rules, allowing users to add names, terminology or repetitive phrases to improve recognition accuracy and productivity. Higher-tier plans provide additional automation features, reusable templates and AI-assisted writing modes for drafting or refining dictated text.
Recognition processing is performed in the cloud, enabling high accuracy without requiring high-performance local hardware. The software supports multiple languages (plan dependent) and can use mobile devices as wireless microphones for flexible dictation workflows. A Medical edition is also available, featuring specialised clinical vocabulary and configuration suited to healthcare documentation environments.
Speech Recognition Cloud operates on Windows systems and requires an internet connection for speech processing.
