What is speaking.app?

Rehearse what you can't leave to chance.

speaking.app is a practice environment for high-stakes speaking: investor pitches, job interviews, presentations, and prepared speeches. You record yourself (or upload a recording), and the AI analyzes both your delivery and your content.

How it works:

  1. Practice out loud: impromptu drills, interview Q&A, pitch run-throughs, or a full prepared speech.
  2. Get delivery feedback: pacing (WPM), pauses, filler words, repetition, and clarity.
  3. Fix the content too: Smart Rewrite detects which speech framework your answer is closest to (out of 15, including STAR, PREP, and Story Arc), scores how well you already follow it, and rewrites your answer in that structure with a word-level diff of exactly what changed.

For startup founders: a dedicated pitch mode (Pro)

Pitch practice is not a relabeled speech mode. A separate analysis pipeline evaluates your spoken pitch the way an investor hears it:

  • Pitch anatomy: maps your pitch to the 13 elements investors listen for and rates each one strong, adequate, weak, or missing
  • Investor verdict: a simulated investor decision from "Strong Yes" to "Pass", with what went well and what to fix
  • Confidence coaching: flags founder-specific credibility killers like hedging ("I think maybe...") and minimizers ("we only have 50 customers")
  • Clarity analysis: catches jargon and complex sentences a generalist investor won't follow
  • Pitch rewrite: restructures your pitch into proper investor flow using your own facts and numbers, never invented ones

Key features:

  • Filler word, pause, and pace analysis on every session (included in the free tier)
  • Smart Rewrite plus weak word, rhetoric, and clarity analysis (Pro)
  • Speech analysis for uploaded recordings, not just live practice (Pro)
  • Interview question library: 1,400+ real questions across 90+ curated sets for specific companies (Amazon, Google, Meta, OpenAI, Stripe), consulting, finance, accelerator interviews (Y Combinator, Techstars), and MBA, law, and medical school admissions
  • Community question sets: practice sets shared by other users, or publish your own
  • Free filler-word counter (Ah-Counter): a live tap counter for um, ah, and like that tracks a whole room of speakers, no account needed (speaking.app/practice/filler-counter)
  • Free speech timer: full-screen green, yellow, and red timing lights, Toastmasters-style, no account needed (speaking.app/tools/speech-timer)
  • Champions Library: a free public collection of analyzed famous speeches (speaking.app/speeches)

What it is not: speaking.app is practice before the moment, not a live copilot that feeds you answers during a real interview or meeting. If you want live in-call assistance, tools like Poised or Final Round AI do that instead.

The free tier includes impromptu and interview practice with AI coaching, transcripts, and filler and pace analysis on every session.
