What is sparQ Pulse?

sparQ Pulse is the first product in sparQ, a fully open-source Developer Experience suite for GitHub-native teams. Pulse is tactical project management derived from GitHub — active work, async standups, accountability, and delivery visibility. Not roadmaps, not portfolios.

Projects, tasks, and status are derived directly from your PRs, issues, and commits, so the board reflects what's actually happening in your repositories rather than a parallel system you have to keep up to date. Commits and pull requests surface in a Status feed as each person's current activity, and issues, labels, and assignees stay in sync with GitHub in both directions.

Key features:

  • GitHub Sync — projects, tasks, and status derived from PRs, issues, and commits
  • Async Standups — template-driven daily check-ins with audio recording and transcription
  • Blockers Board — track blockers with owners, urgency tiers, and automatic nudges
  • Presence — see who's available, focused, blocked, or out across the team
  • Action Items — three-tier urgency system (Now / Later / Whenever) and weekly plans
  • Chat & DMs — real-time messaging with channels, direct messages, and reactions
  • Documents — notes, e-signatures with audit trail, and a knowledge base
  • People — directory, onboarding, 1-on-1s, and hiring pipeline
  • Time & Attendance — clock in/out, PTO requests, schedules, punch corrections
  • AI Assistant — optional LLM-powered features (OpenAI or Anthropic)
  • Mobile API — full REST API with JWT auth
  • Multi-language — built-in i18n with installable language packs

Pulse runs on SQLite out of the box with zero external dependencies (PostgreSQL optional), and is self-hosted. Self-hosting is always free, forever. Licensed under AGPL v3.
