What is SoulGarden?

SoulGarden is a meditation app for beginners in which your practice becomes a garden. It starts as a desert, and with every minute of meditation the five elements (space, earth, water, fire and air) return until it blooms. Your garden never wilts: a missed day costs at most one step of your multiplier, and when you come back, your companion Souly welcomes you.

SoulGarden 2.0 offers guided meditations, a timer with gong and nature sounds, a stopwatch, a journal you can type or speak, group meditations and a shared garden that grows with everyone who meditates. It works offline, needs no sign-up to start, and has no ads or leaderboards.

All music, sound effects, assets, animations and voices are purely handmade, with soul.

A free beginners' course, "First Steps", starts with a kick-off on Wednesday, 11 November 2026, at 11:11 CET and continues every Sunday at 9:00 CET until 20 December.

In a four-week field study with 30 participants, published at ACM CHI PLAY 2025 (DOI 10.1145/3748597), people meditated almost twice as often with the garden as without it (10.9 vs. 6.3 sessions).

The basic version stays free forever. Premium is available at first as a one-time lifetime purchase, and later as a subscription. Available in German and English on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web.
