I've used skEdit for years and really like it. Sadly once the developer gave up on all of his great apps, this doesn't work so well in newer Mac OS versions. I would like to see someone pick it up and update it. It's a real loss.

I've been using skEdit for about ten years now, and during that time, the original developers sold it to another company, who are now charging either a monthly or an annual fee for users.

"No problem," I said. I have my license right here!"

... which was good, until my iMac died a couple days back, and while I still have a copy of the program sent over from my laptop to DropBox, I can't get it to honor my license, because the e-mail address I used quit working years ago (mindspring).

... so now I am on the hunt for another editor. Sure hope Coda is less spendy ....

Small update:

I did a search on my laptop (where skEdit still worked) for "skEdit," and among the numerous files it found, there was a directory where the license was!

I copied that directory to DropBox and then found the local version on the iMac, and dragged the found files to the iMac's local directory, and started skEdit ... and sure enough, no more complaints about registering!
