Love it! Does what it promises. Super simple, super lite and super fast keyboard without unnecessary features.
My previous keyboard. It's pretty good and I love the swipe-to-delete feature (can't live without it). If you are happy with it and you don't need what, say, OpenBoard offers - then good for you.
However, I found that OpenBoard was more polished and had more features.
Simple Keyboard is great but over the few years I had it there was some occational jankyness and bugs that made the experience less than ideal. Haptic would sometimes drop out and be inconsisten and weird. It would sometimes lose track of the text input field requiring you to re-activate focus. It also lacks emoticons (which is intentional because the creator feel like it's unecessary and want to offer a simple and lightweight app).
Personally, while I'm not using emoticons much, they are good to have.
I'd really like to give it 3.5/5 but it's definitely closer to a 4 than it is to a 3. If you look past the lack of emoticons and the occational jankyness, it's great. Keep in mind I used this for a few years while being happy with it. I guess it goes to show that its pros overweigh the cons.
Only keyboard I think is better is OpenBoard, which is a solid step up. If You like Simple Keyboard, you're gonna like OpenBoard.
I like it. It is excellent.
