What is Sidebar?

Sidebar is a software tool developed to improve the MacOS Dock experience by providing enhanced usability and multitasking features. The software replaces the MacOS Dock and offers a variety of features designed to enhance multitasking and usability.

One of Sidebar's main features is its multi-screen support. Users can display Sidebar on their primary screen, select screens, or across all screens, addressing the MacOS Dock limitation of appearing only on one screen. The software also offers a feature to reserve screen space to prevent application windows from overlapping with the Sidebar, optimizing screen space usage without reducing window sizes.

Sidebar also supports customization to match user preferences. Users can modify Sidebar's color, logo, spacing, width, and height. The software also provides a window preview feature, allowing users to hover over an application on the Sidebar for a preview of all its windows. For MacOS Ventura users, this feature offers a live video stream instead of a static preview image. Additionally, Sidebar includes WindowSnap, a feature that manages window positions and can save, restore, or lock window positions, which is useful when switching between different display setups. WindowSnap remembers window positions based on the current display and screen setup and can store and restore multiple window configurations.
