What is Shrinker Pro?

Shrinker Pro is a free, native image compressor for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Drag files or whole folders onto the window and it writes smaller copies beside the originals with a .min suffix, or into a folder you choose. Your originals are kept by default.

Each format gets a dedicated encoder: mozjpeg for JPEG, pngquant for PNG, gifsicle for GIF, svgo for SVG, libwebp for WebP, and the system ImageIO for AVIF and HEIC. Per-format conversion rules let you turn every PNG into WebP while JPEGs stay JPEGs, and HEIC photos convert to JPEG, WebP or AVIF.

Session settings let you convert everything to one format, adjust quality, cap the longest side to resize large photos, and crop from the center to a shape or exact size, all without changing your saved defaults. Session history shows before and after sizes for every file.

Shrinker Pro is a SwiftUI rewrite of Image Shrinker, whose last release ships Intel-only compression binaries that depend on Rosetta 2. Every binary in Shrinker Pro is arm64-only and there is no Electron, so the download is about 3.7 MB. The app is signed and notarized, updates through Sparkle, and follows your Mac's language in 36 languages. An optional command-line tool is available through Homebrew for scripts and build steps.
