What is ShopSpec?
ShopSpec is a browser-based parametric casework planner for woodworkers. Start with a preset or specify dimensions for a cabinet, bookcase, dresser, vanity, shop cart, or similar project. ShopSpec applies woodworking construction rules to derive every part, joint, clearance, and material requirement, then keeps the 3D preview, elevations, exploded views, cut list, sheet nesting, and build sequence synchronized as the design changes.
The cut workflow produces kerf- and grain-aware sheet layouts, board breakdowns, cut order, CSV exports, and printable part labels. The build workflow turns the same specification into sequenced shop operations with setup changes, tool requirements, safety notes, time estimates, and a progress checklist. Drawers, doors, face frames, bases, hardware, multiple joinery methods, stock, remnants, and shop capabilities can all be modeled.
ShopSpec is not a general-purpose CAD system. It is a woodworking-specific tool intended to take a casework idea through design, cutting, and assembly. The core web app is free and works without registration. An optional account enables saved designs, cross-device shop data, and managed share links.
