Sempere is a handwriting notes app for iPad, iPhone and Mac that keeps your notes yours.
YOUR NOTES, YOUR KEYS
Every note is end-to-end encrypted with the open age format, with post-quantum protection. Each device keeps its own key in the Keychain and the Secure Enclave, and a recovery kit you keep lets you back in. There is no account and no server of ours: nobody else, not even the developer, can read what you write.
SYNC WHERE YOU CHOOSE
Your vault lives on your device and works offline. Sync it both ways through iCloud Drive, any folder in Files, or your own WebDAV server, and back it up to a folder you pick. Edits from different devices merge instead of making conflict copies. A new device joins with six words or a QR code.
REAL INK, AND MORE
Write and draw with Apple Pencil, a finger or a mouse: pens, pencil, marker, lasso, ruler, and an eraser for whole strokes or just pixels. Choose lined, grid, dotted or plain paper, in pages or one endless sheet. Add text boxes, photos, PDFs to annotate, videos and typeset equations.
FIND ANYTHING
Handwriting is recognized on your device, so search finds the words you wrote and highlights them on the page. Notebooks, tags and favorites keep things in order.
VOICE NOTES
Record audio as you write, then tap the ink to hear what was said at that moment. Transcripts are made on your device. Start a quick voice note from the Lock Screen.
YOURS TO KEEP
A vault is a folder of standard age files: with your recovery key and free tools you can always decrypt it. Export notes as PDF, PNG or Markdown, import from Notability, and script everything with the open-source sempere command-line tool for Mac and Linux.
NO STRINGS
No ads, no subscription, no tracking, no analytics. Sempere collects no data.
