What is Seedvault?
SeedVault is only pre-built into Custom Android ROMS (CalyxOS & LineageOS 17.1+), uses the same internal APIs as adb backup and the Android to Android device transfer systems, therefore no root access is used.
Features • Backup/restore application & user data. • Automatic daily backups that run in the background. • Supports USB flash drives, NextCloud. • Strong security & privacy. • User-friendly encryption using a mnemonic phrase (BIP39).

No, tried and gave up after first screen. So I tried again and did go beyond the mnemonics... Alas, still not a happy camper. Why two stars?
This app was developed by the CalyxOS team, and while Ive been a CalyxOS user for a couple years now and love it, Seedvault has been frustrating and largely useless as a backup/restore tool. The application doesn't backup all your apps and data and the commentary I see online from the design team is that this is a philosophical decision on their part (E.G. those apps are "too big" or have elected not to be part of backup). I was a developer once and I understand the power developers have - some can be quite opinionated and controlling of their users (E.G. The GNOME Foundation) while others take a more pragmatic approach and allow the end user to control their own destiny and philosophy (E.G. The KDE Community). My particular opinion is as the sole owner and user of the my Calyx OS device and all data on it and the data storage device(s) that said data gets backed up to, I should be in sole control of what gets backed up but with Seedvault I'm intentionally obstructed from doing so when the technical capability is available to do it. This is a heartbreaking pity because the Android domain is in dire need of effective backup software that doesn't require root access or a Google account and Seedvault is so close yet so far from being that solution.
I totally agree! It looks like the developers have made some positive changes by identifying as a device-to-device migration. https://github.com/seedvault-app/seedvault/blob/fef6ecc640cd74a57bf8d522f7fcd06d2ef9b91f/CHANGELOG.md#14-40---2024-01-24 https://github.com/seedvault-app/seedvault/commit/c2f737458cc61bfb6e090994f405722541c8cbf9 https://github.com/seedvault-app/seedvault/commit/5d19160602e29f5b845a7030109dd7d0ff3de3f3
