What is Screen Translate?

Screen Translate is a fast offline translator for your entire Mac screen. Translate text in apps, websites, images, and games in one click—without copying text or switching between windows, even when the text can’t be selected.

The translation appears right where the original text was and adapts to its appearance. The app accounts for text placement, adjusts font size and line breaks, and detects text and background colors. The original lettering is neatly hidden so it doesn’t get in the way of reading. Your screen looks familiar, just in your language.

Understand unfamiliar buttons and settings, read dialogue or quest descriptions in games, and translate text in images, diagrams, or screenshots.

Click the menu bar icon or press ⇧⌘2, which you can customize in Settings. The translation appears over a snapshot of your current screen. You can zoom in on small text and press Escape to return to the original screen.

Text recognition and translation run locally on your Mac, without an internet connection. Screenshots, text, and translations are not sent to the developer. The app has no ads, analytics, or tracking.
