RuneTranslate is a Windows desktop app for translating games. Point it at a game folder and it detects the engine, extracts the script, translates it with the provider you choose, and writes the translation back so the game plays in your language. Japanese is the flagship source language, and games in Chinese, Korean, English and 30+ other languages work too.
It supports 17 engines and formats: RPG Maker MV / MZ and XP / VX / Ace, Ren'Py, Kirikiri, Wolf RPG, TyranoBuilder, Unity (Mono and IL2CPP), Unreal Engine 4 / 5, Godot, RPG Developer Bakin, SRPG Studio, NScripter / ONScripter, Artemis, YU-RIS, AliceSoft, LiveMaker, Electron-based visual novels and Gettext catalogs.
Translation can use 9 providers, 3 of which need no API key, your own DeepL, OpenAI, Claude, DeepSeek or Google key, a local model through Ollama or LM Studio, or RuneLingua, the developer's own AI machine translation. A full project editor adds translation memory, a glossary, provider routing and an AI refiner for a second pass.
Other tools include an Image Studio for text baked into game artwork, a save editor and cheat menu for RPG Maker and Ren'Py games, live collaborative projects and an overnight batch queue. The interface is available in 19 languages, and the app also runs on Linux and the Steam Deck under Wine or Proton.
Every engine, provider and editor feature is available on the free tier, which translates at a reduced speed; paid plans add full speed and extras.
