SCP DS
"XInput Wrapper for DS3 and Play.com USB Dual DS2 Controller", better known as "SCP DS3", is a driver for the Dual Shock pads interfaced with the XInput API, which allows games or programs to interact with the XBox Controller.

This is the most direct alternative as of now. It is, sadly, lesser known and doesn't even have a proper dedicated website but works much more reliably aside from having a couple easily fixed but recurring bugs and requiring some understanding of Windows drivers and services from the users.
