Samsung Browser

I started off with Samsung Internet on my first Samsung phone, just to be able to stay away from Google Chrome. The ability to continue with the Samsung phone and tablet is a big point.

Samsung's unusual love affair with Windows has always been my gripe with it. Especially with their lock-in of Windows apps to laptops manufactured by them. Yes, there's workarounds, but why would you do that? But, anyway, I'm glad they've finally made it available.

Finally happy to see their browser as another alternative. It is really lightweight without the additional footprint of split tabs and tab groups - common on Chromium-based web browsers. You don't have to login to use the browser - the upshot is only for those invested in the connectivity of Samsung devices and apps; or to use sync. The side-bar is also great, where you can add more of your daily sites/web apps.

Things have come to slow down for me with Samsung Internet, as I'm current obsessed with earning BAT crypto currency in Brave. I want it all! 😄Also, note that the AI features (Browsing assist) can easily be toggled. If I remember correctly, it was disabled on first load. Well done, Samsung.

Another bonus is that privacy features (blocking trackers, etc) are baked it. But you may want to install uBlock Origin Lite from the Chrome Web Store. On that note, they haven't done additional work to support legacy Manifest plugins only MV3. Say what you will about that, but it does result in fewer overheads to maintain the browser.

It really is worth it if you don't care for all the additional bells and whistles that browsers currently offer - VPN, tab management, rewards, feed readers, etc. It needs to be assessed whether Samsung Internet is a good alternative to Brave Origin (which is not free).
