I'm confused by all the positive reviews. Despite all the claims of free speech/no censorship, it just appears to be an echo chamber for right-wing political views that seem pretty racist.
Is it technically a reddit-alternative? I guess. But it's so vile and gross that I'd rather use the regular reddit site.

What is SaidIt.net?
Saidit.net - say your truth.
A classy place for civil free speech discourse, continuing development on the original opensource Reddit code.
Features include : Posts, comments, voting, subscriptions, wikis, RSS feeds, night mode, IRC chat, no ads, no porn, no illegal transactions of weapons of drugs, a SaidIt Android app available at F-Drois or GooglePlay, 3 mobile modes and the normal web browser mode, an iOS Saidit app is coming soon, with future plans to decentralize on the Fediverse, IPFS, Holochain, ZeroNet, or something akin, and future plans for a sharded blockchain currency, and more developments daily.
An encyclopedic article about SaidIt.net ( https://infogalactic.com/info/SaidIt ) states :
" SaidIt is an American Reddit-style news aggregating website started in 2017 for user members to post news, articles, videos, images, and stories. Registered members may vote on these submissions. The most popular items are presented in a perpetually updated "hot" list on the main page. Members who create "subreddits" or "subs" may moderate their topical categories. Within the "subs" members may contribute titled "posts" with text or a link (to a webpage, image, video, etc). Every "post" has a "comment" section where members may post comments and discuss things at length. ..."

Comments and Reviews
Saidit is based on the open source Reddit code, but is moderated with the "pyramid of discourse", which discourages lowering the level of discussion. It also lacks a downvote feature. That means that the only ways to respond to content you disagree with are to ignore it, or to make a rebuttal that is at least as civil and coherent as the original content. The owners and the community seem to value free speech, and the only prohibited content is that which presents legal risks, like pornography.

Good alternative to r*ddit
It provides free speech and doesn't censor people, but the design sucks badly
Fantastic, without 'downvote' option, which creates less frustration and more quality.
Lightweight forum hosting site, albeit one with a really ugly design. It's also centralized, so if it's ever bought or seized, there's nothing they can do
While I do genuinely value critiques of corporate media, this platform suffers from the same shit Voat does. Namely, it's taken over by rightwingers. I appreciate that it's open sourced, but that doesn't make up for the fact that their version of /r/science is full of anti-vaxxers and climate change deniers calling themselves "truth-seekers"
If you find an alternative to corporate media and you just end up with more corporate-pushed worldviews (i.e. climate denialism), you're doing something wrong. Same goes for their politics, but I don't wanna get into that mess
