What is Riplox?

Riplox is a Windows video downloader with a phone half. Pair a phone once and its share sheet gains a Riplox entry: share a video link from any app and the download starts on the PC at full quality. The PC never opens a port - it dials out and holds one request - and every message is AES-GCM encrypted, so the relay carries what it cannot read. Only the link travels; the video is downloaded by the PC on the PC's own connection.

Pick 4K, 1440p, 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p or MP3 with cover art and tags. Whole playlists and channel sections download in one click, several at a time, and the queue survives a restart. Output is MP4, in H.264 wherever a site offers that resolution in H.264, so files play anywhere without extra codecs - and where the highest resolution exists only in a newer codec, Riplox takes the resolution rather than handing back a smaller file.

There is no download cap, no daily quota, no paid tier and no account to make. The installer contains the app and nothing else.

The download engine updates itself from inside the app, so a site changing how it serves video does not mean waiting for a new release of Riplox. For YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook there is a second route in that the app takes on its own when the first is refused.

It also runs portable: unzip it onto a USB stick and settings, history and the phone pairing all stay in a Data folder beside the program, with nothing written anywhere else on the PC.

Riplox is GPL-3.0 and built on yt-dlp and FFmpeg.
