What is Remotr - Native macOS RDP Server?
Remotr is a native macOS app that turns your Mac into a Remote Desktop (RDP) server.
It implements Microsoft's RDP protocol (MS-RDPBCGR) directly — no third-party RDP libraries — so you connect to your Mac using the Remote Desktop client already built into Windows, or Microsoft's official Windows App on iOS, Android, macOS, and the web. There's nothing to install on the device you connect from.
Install once on the Mac you want to control, then reach it anytime from any standard RDP client. Because Remotr speaks the standard protocol, connections are direct — no third-party relay servers, no account sign-up, no cloud in the middle.
Highlights: • Zero client install — use Windows' built-in Remote Desktop or Microsoft's official apps • Standard RDP (MS-RDPBCGR) — compatible with Windows 10/11 and official Microsoft clients • Dynamic resolution — your Mac's resolution adapts in real time to the connecting device (laptop, portrait, ultrawide, 4K) • Hardware-accelerated video — Bitmap, H.264, and RemoteFX streaming (VideoToolbox) • Full keyboard & mouse control with correct Windows?macOS key mapping • Bidirectional clipboard sync (text and files) • Audio redirection with a virtual output — remote-only sound keeps your Mac silent • File & printer sharing • Screen lock (Privacy Screen) — hide your Mac's screen while you work remotely • Secure by default — TLS 1.2/1.3 encryption, auto-generated certificates, macOS account authentication • 10 languages, auto-detected
Requires macOS 13 Ventura or later.
