While trying to install Jin, the installer put up a message that said it would work best with a specific version of Java, and was nice enough to include a link to download it from, so I went ahead and installed that version as requested, and just as I was getting ready to run Jin for the first time, I had a Thought:
"Wait a minute. Let me see if this will make Raptor work again first."
I started Raptor, and instead of complaining about how it needed me to install Java again, it logged me into FICS ... so all is not lost with Raptor (thank goodness)!
I used this one for about a year under Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.8), then one of the programs I rely on needed to run under 10.10, so I upgraded my OS ... and now Raptor no longer works. No updates since last year.
Too bad ... since the death of Fixation, this one was my "go-to" chess client.
