Radar k8s information
What is Radar k8s?
Radar is an open-source Kubernetes visibility tool that makes a live cluster easy to understand. It runs as a single Go binary — locally on your laptop with zero cluster-side install, or in-cluster via Helm for shared team access — and talks to the Kubernetes API directly, with no CRDs and no account required to start.
It gives you a real-time topology graph, a resource explorer with full CRD auto-discovery, a unified event timeline (kept past the default 1-hour TTL), log streaming, pod exec, a container image filesystem viewer, Helm release management, and first-class GitOps support for FluxCD and ArgoCD. A built-in cluster audit runs 31 best-practice checks across security, reliability, and efficiency (labeled to NSA/CISA and CIS).
Radar also ships a built-in MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so AI assistants like Claude, Cursor, and Copilot can query your cluster through Radar using token-efficient, read-only-by-default data instead of raw YAML.
The engine is Apache 2.0 and free forever with no node or cluster limits. Radar Cloud is an optional hosted tier (per cluster, not per seat) that adds multi-cluster fleet views, SSO, RBAC, retention, and alerts. Works on GKE, EKS, AKS, minikube, kind, and k3s, and is airgapped-ready.
