QueryCase

QueryCase is a gamified SQL learning platform where you learn by solving detective mystery cases with real SQL queries, not exercises.

Instead of fake datasets and isolated tasks, you take on the role of a detective. Chief Fox briefs you on a case, you get a real database full of evidence, and you write actual SQL to figure out what happened. The JOIN matters when a suspect has an alibi. The WHERE clause matters when someone entered a building at 22:13.

There are 54 cases spanning five detective ranks: Recruit, Rookie Detective, Detective, Senior Detective and Chief Detective. Each rank covers a new layer of SQL, from basic SELECT and filtering through JOINs, subqueries, CTEs and window functions. Each rank finishes with a timed exam and a shareable certificate.

Sandbox mode gives you real datasets to explore freely with no mystery attached — IMDB movies, Spotify tracks, NBA stats, Steam games and Pokémon data - in an editor built to feel like a real data warehouse environment.

Investigation mode adds timed challenges with no hints for when you want real pressure.

All SQL runs entirely in the browser via DuckDB WASM. No setup, no backend, no round trips.
