QT Lite is a lightweight version of 
QuickTime Player . It contains only the essential components for viewing QuickTime content in your browser.
It's very similar to 
QuickTime Alternative , which means that you won’t notice it working.
Nevertheless, if you want to set your own options, you have the possibility of making some adjustments regarding media encoding, synthesizer, audio playback, streaming speed and transport via a small window.
Unlike the QuickTime Alternative application, this piece of software does not come with the 
Media Player Classic included.
Other features include downloading HD QuickTime trailers by using the included MOV Download Tool, enabling support for embedded mp4 and m4a files, and the fixed configuration option at the end of the installation.
QT Lite installs Apple’s Application Support on your computer if you don’t have it already, as it needs this service in order to install its plugins correctly.

QT Lite is a lightweight version of QuickTime Player that has only the packages needed to play video in your web browser. Because... who likes to have the bloated QuickTime Player installed?
However, the latest release was 15th December 2010 and there's no sign there's coming an update to this particular project.
Do you guys perhaps know an alternative to QT Lite? Asides from QuickTime Player of course (and QuickTime Alternative, which is the outdated version of QT Lite), hehe. :)
VLC media player, Media Player Classic Home Cinema, and Windows Media Player are great alternatives.
