Web service was taken down Jan 5, 2024.Now the website simply shows the word "ceasefire".Jan 8th routman (owner) posted a response on GitHub confirming that this change will be permanent.Mentioned were the costs and lack of support but also sadly a disrespect for others demonstrated by some of the user base.Repository still available at https://github.com/routman/publicnote.com however, there is no additional confirmation whether existing notes have been saved.

This was an interesting "app" that ran online. The developer however is unprofessional and used profanity and name calling towards me when I asked why it was locked with his "slanted" views and comments. He needs help.

What is Publicnote?

Publicnote is a super-simple, free, public notepad. Enter any title to access a note. No account required. Every note is public. You are free to modify any note you find. Every note is encrypted. You must know the title to see the note.

There are a variety of uses for publicnote:

  • personal note-taking
  • copy-pasting text from one device to another
  • accessing notes from a public computer
  • sending messages privately and anonymously
  • chatting with strangers
  • posting jokes and ASCII art
  • puzzles and scavenger hunts
