What is Psi+?
Psi is a cross-platform powerful XMPP client designed for experienced users. Psi+ is a development branch of Psi with rolling release development model.
Users who wants to receive new features and bug fixes very quickly may use Psi+ on daily basis. Users who do not care about new trends and prefer constancy may choose Psi as it uses classical development model and its releases are quite rare.
- XMPP allows gateways to other services, which many servers support. Other services available using gateway servers include RSS and Atom news feeds, sending SMS messages to cellular networks and weather reports.
- Emoticon packs are supported using the jisp format.
- Psi supports Contact Is Typing Notification.
- Psi supports file transfers between other XMPP clients, and it is possible to send to or receive files from other IM networks, if the user's servers support this.
- Support of audio and video calls in Psi via Jingle is implemented via officially supported plugin PsiMedia.
- Security is also a major consideration, and Psi provides it for both client-to-server (TLS) and client-to-client (OpenPGP, OTR, and OMEMO) via appropriate plugins. Encryption of messages in group chats is supported only via OMEMO plugin.

_Good stuff:_ - Very customizable, almost every aspect of it. Wide choice of roster and smilie themes, and you can make your own pretty easily too. - Oldschool interface. _Bad stuff:_ - The program is much too heavy for a chat client, half a gigabyte. Doesn't seem to eat the RAM though. - There's an XMPP STUN server specified in the default settings, and it's **Google**.

Installed Psi today and got to say that the low memory impressed me. I like simple and plain IM's so I give Psi a couple days to convince me. Minus is the website, although the start-page looks nice smiley packs or other stuff is nowhere to be found. I got the smiley packs through google.
