Best password manager out there. Had some initial issues at launch but after someone convinced me to give it a second chance, I'm now fully onboard.
I don't care about the freemium features. They are a business and need to earn money. What they offer is not essential for a good password manager. All that is necessary is very good security implementations and being cross-platform.
In that respect they are good. In fact, I wouldn't want my 2FA on the same app as my password manager (the main selling point of Pass Plus). For security reasons, it is not necessarily the smartest move to have them together.
Why two stars? Because they force you to use a Protonmail account. Proton recently made a policy like Tutanota where they will delete accounts that have not been logged into in a while. Because I often use accounts in other platforms, such as on Thunderbird, this can create problems.
I have lost hundreds of dollars of cryptocurrency I had tied to a Tutanota account that was deleted because I did not log into their email for 6 months (Proton is 1 year I believe right now before they delete).
With something like Bitwarden or KeePass, they don't force you into anything. You can use any email service and any 2fa.
Proton Pass is a must-have in my daily life. It works smoothly across all my devices Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, and even browser extensions with secure, encrypted cloud sync. I love that it’s open-source, available on F-Droid, and perfect for privacy-focused setups like CalyxOS.
The QR code login to new phones is brilliant no email or password needed, just scan and go. As a paid user, I also get SimpleLogin Premium included, which makes it a rich and thoughtful bundle for anyone who values privacy.
Their support is fast, and the team is clearly active and passionate. It’s a promising tool that just keeps getting better I honestly love it.
Used few before ProtonPass, this one crushes other solutions with features and privacy rich offerings.
Nice design, very user friendly, and from a reputable company, highly recommended!
The Proton team look onto Password managers. Really does it really good as a mobile and browser extension. Too bad it's only limited to that, with no local encrypted desktop offline implementation. Some might also have issues with the free plan, preventing using the 2FA authentication function, which is an essential part for account security (but they still can use an external application for such).
Most password managers don't have a 2FA authenticator.
It's probably not the wisest move to have them together. Ideally you will have your 2FA on another device for security purposes.
Lacks lots of features, but still is promising
