Profanity Alternatives

    Profanity is described as 'Commandline XMPP Client. Profanity was originally written for two main reasons. Firstly, the author wanted something similar to Irssi, but with a focus on XMPP for use in his workplace. Secondly, it was a bit of fun and a learning exercise' and is an app in the OS & Utilities category. There are more than 10 alternatives to Profanity for a variety of platforms, including Linux, Mac, Windows, BSD and Xfce. The best alternative is Jitsi, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Profanity are Pidgin (Free, Open Source), Empathy (Free, Open Source), YakYak (Free, Open Source) and Instantbird (Free, Open Source).
