What is Photo Transfer via USB?

Photo Transfer via USB copies photos and videos from an iPhone or iPad to a Mac, an external drive or a NAS over a USB cable and sorts them into folders by date, event or trip. The folders are shown before anything is copied, so it is clear what will land where, and anything can be unchecked or renamed first.

Folder names are built from blocks such as year, month, city, country and event, with the user's own separators and casing. Trips are recognised from where the photos were taken. Live Photos, RAW files and edited versions stay together with their originals and are dated by the original.

Every file is checked byte for byte before it gets its final name, and a report shows what landed. If the cable is unplugged midway, the transfer continues from the same file once the device is back. On the next run only new photos are offered, because the app compares the phone with what is already in the destination.

Originals can be kept as they are, or HEIC converted to JPEG and HEVC to H.264 on the way. Nothing is installed on the phone and nothing on it is changed: the device is opened read-only. The app uses no account and no cloud and collects no data.

Requires macOS 15 or later, runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, and needs an iPhone or iPad connected with a USB cable. Available in English and Russian.
