What is PhonixPBX?

PhonixPBX is a self-hosted telephone system for small offices, businesses and home labs. It turns a Raspberry Pi, a PC or a virtual machine into a complete PBX that you set up entirely through a web browser, with no Asterisk configuration files to edit by hand.

It is the successor of AskoziaPBX (2007–2011). It keeps that project's simple menu structure and dialplan logic but rebuilds it on a modern base: Alpine Linux, Asterisk 22 with PJSIP, Python/FastAPI and SQLite. Existing AskoziaPBX 2.x configurations can be imported.

Telephony features:

SIP (PJSIP) and IAX phones and provider trunks, with live registration status Call groups (ring all or one after another, groups can be nested) IVR menus / auto attendant with uploaded announcements, drag-and-drop key options, a call flow view and test calls Business hours with holidays, special periods and a "year at a glance" calendar, plus out-of-office keys with BLF lamps on desk phones Voicemail with voicemail-to-email, missed-call emails, conference rooms (ConfBridge), call parking, pickup, attended and blind transfer, and call forwarding Music on hold, custom greetings and dialing of international numbers in +E.164 format Custom dialplan applications for advanced users Administration

A clean, responsive web UI (Tabler + htmx) in 12 languages, with a built-in user manual in English and German A dashboard with active calls, registrations, live logs, CPU and network graphs, and an audit log A REST API with bearer tokens, plus a built-in MCP server so AI assistants can manage the PBX Backup and restore, signed firmware updates with A/B boot slots and automatic rollback, and a read-only root filesystem Security by default

HTTPS out of the box, with automatic Let's Encrypt / ZeroSSL certificates (HTTP-01 or DNS-01) A random admin password on first boot (argon2id hashes) and CSRF-protected sessions A generated nftables firewall and automatic banning of SIP brute-force attempts Privilege separation: the web app never runs as root Deployment options

Bootable disk images for Raspberry Pi (arm64), PCs and VMs (amd64, x86) LXC system containers for Proxmox VE and Incus An OCI image for Docker and Podman: docker run -d --network host -v phonix-data:/data ghcr.io/phonixpbx/phonix:latest PhonixPBX is licensed under the Apache License 2.0.
