PSI is reaching End-of-life on April 20, 2018. On that date existing installations of PSI will no longer function and should be uninstalled.
Flexera Personal Software Inspector, previously Secunia PSI, is a FREE security tool designed to detect vulnerable and out-dated programs and plug-ins which expose your PC to attacks. Attacks exploiting vulnerable programs and plug-ins are rarely blocked by traditional anti-virus and are therefore increasingly "popular" among criminals.
The only solution to block these kind of attacks is to apply security updates, commonly referred to as patches. Patches are offered free-of-charge by most software vendors, however, finding all these patches is a tedious and time consuming task. Personal Software Inspector automates this and alerts you when your programs and plug-ins require updating to stay secure.

this software searches and installs updates. It detects the most but not all installed software but it also possible to suggest new software that should be updated by PSI.
I would call this a security important software, because a lot of Windows users do not install critical updates and get infected.
Its not that good as the linux update mechanism but the best solution for Windows I found.
Using version 2.0.0.4003. Started seeing this message yesterday. Maybe the shutdown for this version started a few days earlier. Looking for a good alternative. Version 3 is too slow for me.
Not available to download. Given you need to input your name and email before being sent to a non existent 'download' page it looks like an email address collection operation.
sorry to say but only the name changed...impossioble to load. shortly....does not work.........
At the moment download from official webpage is no longer available, it just sends to an empty link, and Flexera is no longer providing easy linking to product, possibly they are going to shut it down
Secunia PSI, now called Flexera Software Personal Software Inspector after that Flexera acquired Secunia in September 2015, is still available for download (email required).
I have just updated the title, the description and the official link where you can find it :)

Yesterday I have downloaded the software correctly.
Maybe you should try with another browser or disabling your adblocker if you use it.

It takes over and hour to run Secunia and I using 40 percent of my hard drive and I don't have that many programs to scan.
I loved the software when I was using windows 7-8.1 but I kind of want something different because it wants windows update but it will not accept the windows update for windows 10 technical preview
