What is P7S Universal Viewer?

P7S Universal Viewer is a free, MIT-licensed Windows utility from ALMARFELD for opening CMS/PKCS#7 digital-signature containers. It displays embedded content, extracts original bytes, verifies cryptographic signature integrity and shows signer certificate details. It also supports detached signatures when the original content is supplied.

Version 2.0.0 is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11 x64 as an installer or portable ZIP. Files are processed locally; no account or cloud upload is required. Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is optional and used only for PDF preview.

Signature integrity does not establish certificate trust or legal validity. Certificate revocation is not checked. The Windows executable and installer are not Authenticode-signed.
