What is OpenWispr?

OpenWispr is an open source, cross platform desktop dictation app powered by OpenAI Whisper that turns speech into text, with local or cloud processing for flexibility and privacy.

Start or stop dictation anywhere with a global hotkey (plus an optional macOS Fn or Globe listener), auto paste at the cursor, and use a draggable dictation panel. Pick your AI backend, including OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or local models like Qwen, LLaMA, and Mistral. Manage settings, history, and API keys from a control panel, keep transcripts locally in SQLite, and download or clear local Whisper models to save disk space.
