    OpenCyc is described as 'cut-down open version of the Cyc technology, the world's largest and most complete general knowledge base and commonsense reasoning engine. Cycorp, the builders of Cyc, have set up an independent organization, OpenCyc'. There are three alternatives to OpenCyc for a variety of platforms, including Online / Web-based,, Windows, Java Mobile and Linux. The best alternative is Freebase, which is free. Other great apps like OpenCyc are SWI Prolog (Free, Open Source) and YAGO (Free, Open Source).
