NPPCrypt Alternatives

    NPPCrypt is described as 'plugin for Notepad++ that will allow users to encrypt, decrypt text as well with create hashed messages/text and random blobs'. There are more than 10 alternatives to NPPCrypt for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Linux, Mac, Android and iPhone. The best alternative is CryptPad, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like NPPCrypt are Milanote (Freemium), Notebook PEA (Free, Open Source), EncFS (Free, Open Source) and CryptoTE (Free, Open Source).

      EncFS provides an encrypted filesystem in user-space. It runs without any special permissions and uses the FUSE library and Linux kernel module to provide the filesystem interface. You can find links to source and binary releases below.
