Apps similar to NowPlaying include DeltaTune, which is free and open source. Other options are Spotify Notify, iTunification and GrowlTunes. In total there are four apps like NowPlaying for Mac and Windows.
DeltaTune is a small Windows program that shows you the title and artist of whatever song you're currently listening to on your computer in a similar fashion to that one time DELTARUNE did it in chapter 1 when Field of Hopes and Dreams started playing.
iTunification makes it so you don't have to switch to iTunes again. You can see your music right where you are. When you play songs in iTunes or Spotify, iTunification gets the track's details and shows them in OS X 10.8 new Notification Center or Growl. Your choice!
What song just started playing in iTunes? With GrowlTunes you will no longer have to ask yourself that question, you'll just know. GrowlTunes makes it easy to see what track is playing, and gives you even more control, like changing track ratings and the volume of iTunes too.
