NodePilot

NodePilot is an open-source workflow orchestrator for Windows and PowerShell. You build workflows in a visual designer in the browser, run them against your servers over WinRM and watch every step as it executes. No agent is installed on the target machines.

Workflows combine PowerShell scripts with built-in activities for services, files and folders, registry, scheduled tasks, WMI queries, REST calls, SQL queries and email. Conditions decide which path runs, branches run in parallel, failed steps can retry, and each step passes its output to the next. Runs start manually, on a schedule, from a file change, an event log entry, a database change or a webhook. Afterwards the log shows step by step what ran, with which input and output.

NodePilot is self-hosted and runs in your own infrastructure on Windows Server with PostgreSQL or SQL Server. It includes role-based access (Admin, Operator, Viewer), folder permissions, LDAP and Windows single sign-on, an audit log and optional active/passive high availability. A command-line client and an MCP server let scripts and AI agents work with the same REST API.

Teams moving away from Microsoft System Center Orchestrator can import existing runbooks and review them before use.
