What is nextread?

nextread is a web app for readers who want the shelf without the social network.

You keep three shelves — want to read, reading, read — rate what you finish, keep private notes, and set an annual reading goal. Instead of "people who liked this also liked", the recommendation engine reads your actual history and returns books with a written reason for each pick: why this one, given what you've read and rated. Ask from a single book you loved, from your whole shelf, or from filters you set yourself (genre, author, theme).

Every suggestion is reconciled against a real book catalog before you see it, so it never invents a title that doesn't exist — a common failure of LLM-based recommenders.

Coming from Goodreads? Export your CSV and import it here; the whole shelf lands in about two minutes with covers, statuses, ratings and dates intact.

Other features: a draggable virtual bookshelf of your finished books, a shareable public profile, a monthly/annual reading recap image, and buy links. The interface is bilingual (English and Brazilian Portuguese) and recommendations answer in the language you're using. Search covers Google Books, OpenLibrary and a 380,000-work Portuguese catalog, so readers outside the English-language market find their actual editions.

Free, no card required, no ads. Runs in the browser — no install.
