NCViewer is a lightweight image viewer and editor for Windows, designed for fast browsing, simple editing, and compact size. Developed in C, it includes Save2Web, a component written in x64 assembly (FASM).
Key Features:
- View, browse, select, crop, copy, and manage images.
- Thumbnail browser with folder navigation, search, and date sorting.
- Video thumbnails and playback via Windows Media Foundation or external FFplay, with graphical playback controls.
- PNG optimization using Oxipng.
- Custom keyboard shortcuts to open images in external applications.
- A separate Debian package is available for use with Wine on Linux.
Supported Image Formats (Reading):
AVIF, BMP, DIB, GIF, HDR, HEIC, ICO, JPEG (JPG, JPE), PNG, TIFF (TIF), WebP, QOI, SVG, TGA, PSD, PIC, PPM, PGM, PNM, plus XCF (GIMP).
PDF viewing requires Windows 10/11 and the appropriate Windows feature.
Additional Formats (depending on installed Windows codecs):
DDS, HEIF, JPEG XR (JXR, WDP, HDP).
Image Formats (Saving):
AVIF, BMP, GIF, HEIC, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP. PNG files can also be optimized with Oxipng.
Optional Camera RAW Support:
With NCLibRaw_0.22.dll: 3FR, ARI, ARQ, ARW, CR2, CR3, CRW, DCR, DCS, DNG, ERF, IIQ, KDC, MEF, MOS, MRW, NEF, NRW, ORF, PEF, RAF, RW2, RWL, SR2, SRF, SRW, X3F.
Video and Audio Playback (FFplay 4.4.1):
Common video containers include AVI, FLV, MKV, MOV, MP4, MPEG, MTS, OGV, TS, VOB, WebM, and WMV. Supported codecs include AV1, H.264, H.265, MPEG-2, VP8, VP9, and more. Audio support includes AAC, FLAC, MP3, OGG, Opus, WAV, and WMA, among others.
Important: FFplay 4.4.1 is NOT included and must be downloaded separately. The ffplay.exe file must be accessible to NCViewer. Actual playback support depends on the FFplay build.
