What is MoonRay?
MoonRay is DreamWorks’ open-source, award-winning, state-of-the-art production MCRT renderer, which has been used on feature films such as How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Trolls World Tour, The Bad Guys, the upcoming Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, as well as future titles.
It features:
- High-performance vectorized path-tracing renderer.
- Advanced light filters for full artistic expression. Multiple light filters may be combined with multiply, min, max, add, or subtract operations.
- Display Filters for non-photorealistic and compositing workflows.
- Pixel-matching XPU mode.
- Physically based and layerable materials
- Volume Rendering
- A USD Hydra render delegate, allowing its use in Hydra-supporting applications such as Houdini and Maya.
- Support for OpenEXR format.
- Arras distributed computation framework for multi-machine and cloud rendering.
