What is Monstera PDF Editor?

Monstera PDF Editor is a free, open-source PDF editor for Windows 10 and 11, offering more than 150 professional tools for editing, managing, converting, and securing PDF documents without subscriptions, accounts, or watermarks.

The application supports direct editing of existing PDF text and objects, document creation, page management, annotations, digital signatures, form creation and filling, secure redaction, document comparison, and conversion between PDF and other file formats. Its OCR engine recognizes text in 14 languages, making scanned documents searchable and editable.

Monstera also includes an AI Assistant that allows users to ask questions about documents, summarize content, extract information, analyze reports, and generate or rewrite text. The assistant supports 10 AI providers through Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) integration and can reference source pages in its responses.

Designed with privacy and security in mind, Monstera processes documents locally by default and uses Windows AppContainer isolation to help protect the system from potentially malicious PDFs. AI features connect to the user's selected provider when used.
