What is Melia?

Melia is a modern, privacy-first email client for Linux. It keeps your mail on your own machine instead of in the cloud, connecting straight to your IMAP and SMTP servers and storing everything in a local database. There's no telemetry, and a built-in Connection Monitor lets you watch every outbound connection the app makes, so you can verify that for yourself.

It takes sender security seriously, checking messages with SPF, DKIM, DMARC and ARC rather than trusting the headers, flagging likely impersonation, and giving you a Trust Center to block or allow people. Tracking pixels and remote images are blocked by default, read receipts are never sent on their own, and one-click unsubscribe is built in. HTML mail renders cleanly, and the dark mode even fixes messages that weren't built for one.

Because your whole mailbox is cached locally, Melia opens quickly and keeps working when you are offline. It fits in on Linux, storing credentials in the system keyring and using real keyboard shortcuts, and it ships as Flatpak, Snap, AppImage and .deb. You can run several accounts at once with one-click setup for more than 30 providers, pick from around 25 themes such as Catppuccin, Nord, Dracula and Gruvbox plus a custom accent color, and keep things organized with inbox rules, full-text search, and tools for tidying up folders.

Melia is free for one account with no feature limits. Unlimited accounts cost $10 once, with no subscription.
